Clean Deck Stains Without Having to Refinish!
Stains on wood, especially deck stains, can be quite unsightly. For those that have a bit of OCD in their blood, a deck stain can be a horrid nightmare. Most of the time, in order to clean deck stains completely you will have to refinish the wood to remove the stain. However, there are a few methods that you can try before you go through the painstaking effort of refinishing your deck.
If the stain is fresh from a recent spill, you may be able to remove it with simple household cleaner, although, the longer the stain is on the deck, the harder it will be to get up.
If that doesn’t work, and the stain is either white or a watermark, you can use a cotton cloth and an iron to remove the deck stain. Simply place the cotton cloth over the stain, then, using a dry iron (no steam!) press down for a few seconds on the stain. Repeat the method until the water marks are gone.
To remove grease stains you want to pour salt on the deck stain, let it sit for a few minutes, then remove the salt. You will have to repeat this multiple times until all the grease is gone.
These are just a few methods to try and clean deck stains without having to refinish. As always, though, you may not be able to get the deck stain up, and will have to either live with it being present or refinish your deck.
